Easy Crispy Dumpling Skirt (Frozen Potsticker Hack)
Prep Time: 5m | Cook Time: 10m | Servings: 1-2
Ingredients
- 8-12 frozen dumplings
- 1-2 tbsp oil
- 2 tsp plain flour
- 1/2 tsp cornstarch
- Pinch salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- In a small jug or bowl, mix together the dumpling skirt ingredients: flour, cornstarch, water and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth.
- In a non-stick pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add frozen dumplings directly to the pan (no need to thaw) and fry for 2–3 minutes until the bottoms start to turn golden.
- Give the water mixture another stir. Use the pan lid as a shield and pour the skirt mixture evenly over the dumplings. Immediately cover with the lid.
- Steam the dumplings with the lid on for 6–7 minutes, or until most of the water has evaporated. Then remove the lid and continue cooking until the skirt becomes golden brown and crispy, rotating the pan for even browning if needed.
- Turn off the heat and carefully pour off any excess oil. Place a plate over the pan and flip to release the dumplings. The skirt should stay intact and lift off easily. Serve immediately.
