Korean Spicy Braised Tofu

Prep Time: 15m | Cook Time: 10m | Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 green onion
  • 450g tofu
  • oil, for frying

Instructions

Mix all sauce ingredients in a small jug or bowl and set aside.

Heat oil in a frypan and pan-fry tofu for a few minutes on medium heat until just golden brown on both sides.

Turn heat down slightly and pour sauce evenly all over tofu. Simmer for 4-6 minutes, turning tofu half way. Add more water if needed to keep sauce a little runny, but not watery. Taste to see if you want to add more salt or sugar.

Serve on hot rice and garnish with extra spring onion and sesame!
